Holy Family Plaque

The Holy Family, refugees driven from their homeland, eventually returned to daily life in Nazareth. We too are called in the midst of our struggles and challenges to become God's "holy family."

This piece was made at the Benedictine Abbey of Maria Laach, founded in 1093 in Germany. Through the centuries the ongoing concern of the monks was to beautify and enhance liturgy. They also have been leaders in the renewal and expression of symbols which most authentically reflect our sacred scriptures. Their religious art rings true, it touches and awakens our sense of the sacred.
